Hi,
I am working in a team where we would ideally want to be able to have different team members download new iterations of your most important data files (e.g. download the same variables for reproducing analyses with a new sample of data). Is it allowed to create a user based on our team email or does all accounts need to be person specific? I know we could potentially use API to download the files but we unfortunately currently do not have enough API experience to do so.
Thank you all so much in advance!
Best regards,
Lisa
Each IPUMS user must register for their own individual IPUMS account using their own email address, name, and other information including a research statement and their institutional affiliation. Users may not use each other’s accounts. If you are using IPUMS International and would like to create an account for multiple individuals who are part of the same course/class, you may create a classroom account to share extracts with multiple users. We do not currently offer extract sharing as a feature, though it is on our radar as a feature that researchers would find useful.
I would recommend looking into the IPUMS API program to see if it would be suitable for your purposes. We offer documentation and instructions on how to use the API as well as help on our forum and via email at ipums@umn.edu.
