I am performing an affordability assessment for a public utility and am attemptoing to locate a dataset(s) that identifies income by residential class (i.e., single family, multi-family, mobile home). According to a paper by the US Council of Mayors and the American Water Works Association IPUMS should have this information
IPUMS USA has variables on the number of units in structure (UNITSSTR), which includes mobile homes. You can also get income data (INCWAGE, INCTOT). What will be more difficult is getting that data for a specific CDP. The geographic detail in IPUMS is restricted to CDPs with more than 100,000 people, and even then, we can probably only identify some of those large CDPs.
IPUMS NHGIS has data on Tenure by Units in Structure but there is no income data in that cross tabulation.
