Okay to redistribute data to class?

I am teaching a Master’s level class in Research Design, Methods, and Introductory Statistics and want to use the IPUMS USA as the class data set, subsetted down to just our county (N=18k). I have had the students set up IPUMS accounts and accept the terms and conditions. Can I give them access to the subsetted data set? They are novices in statistical programming.

Yes, you may share the data within the class. Although, since your students already have IPUMS accounts, I’d suggest having your students experience extracting data from IPUMS USA and restricting the sample down to a given geographic area. This way, there really is no sharing of the data at all.
