I requested an extract and it was succesfully created. However when I seleted the SAS option, the data file was not downloaded to my computer. It did create a program file but I had to cut and paste it into SAS. My question is why didn’t the data file download and how to get it?

In order to open your data extract in SAS you need two files: the SAS command file and the data file. These are available and downloadable via two separate links in the IPUMS online data extract system. We have an online video tutorial that may be helpful to you in troubleshooting this issue.
