I am trying to extract a dataset of a size of roughly 3 GB. But the Xtract takes ages. Why? What's happening?

Hello everyone,

I am having problems extracting a big dataset. I included many more variables via the attach characteristics button to make statistical analyses much easier for me. When I did not include all these attached chars., the dataset had a size of about 1.5GB and the extract usually took a few hours. Now it has almost 3GB and the extract never actually happens, I have been waiting for a day already. Is there a limit on the data extraction or what is going on?

Over the last 24 hours the IPUMS USA project has been quite busy with some larger than usual extracts. This backs up the queue and extends wait times. As you noted, the usual turn-around time for an extract that size should be no more than an hour or two. Our apologies for the delay and thank you for your patience.
