Hi all, why was WTVET removed from the monthly CPS? Will we still have VTSUPPWT for the Veterans Supplement, and if so, when will the August 2025 data be available in iPUMS? As always, thank-you.
Thanks for asking us about WTVET. After looking into this, my IPUMS CPS colleagues realized this was inadvertently removed when we overhauled supplement weight variables. We will restore the variable soon (perhaps with the release of the December BMS data). VTSUPPWT will also be retained.
The August 2025 Veterans Supplement Public Use File has not yet been released by the Census Bureau. Once the file is made available, the team will determine a timeline for releasing the harmonized data. Knowing that there are users looking to use the new supplement data is very helpful for this, so I will be sure to note your interest! For reference, the 2024 file was posted on 3/24/25 and the IPUMS CPS harmonized version was released on 8/8/25.
