Does anyone at IPUMS keep record of usage or download rates for OCC1950 versus OCC1990?
IPUMS-USA does maintain running counts of extract frequencies for all variables. According to our records, since the beginning of IPUMS-USA the OCC1950 variable has been extracted more often then OCC1990 by a factor of about 1.47, however, this difference is likely influenced by the fact that OCC1950 has been available longer than OCC1990. Over this last year OCC1990 has actually been extracted more often (by a factor of about 1.3). Both variables are among the top 50 most extracted variables in IPUMS-USA.
