I’ve noted several questions about availability in the past but nothing up-to-date. Any information is appreciated.
The Civic Engagement supplement was added to IPUMS CPS in April 2019. Details on the supplement are available here. To select the supplement for inclusion in your extract, first navigate to the “Select Samples” page, then to the “Supplement Topics” tab, and then the “Civic Engagement” tab to choose which years of the supplement you would like to include in your extract.
Hi Kari, is this still the way to find the civic engagement supplement? When I go to the ‘select samples’ page, I don’t see a ‘supplemental topics’ option. Thanks!
Thanks @Li_Moe . My previous message breezed past an important interim step – before you see “Supplement Topics” you will need to click into the “Basic Monthly” tab.
Whin the Basic Monthly tab you should be able to see the “Civic Engagement” topic. Note that currently the latest available Civic Engagement supplement in IPUMS CPS is from 2021. However, I have alerted the IPUMS CPS team of your interest and am hopeful that we will add the latest Civic Engagement supplement data (from 2023) in the coming months.
