How do I get only the general variable info and not the detailed even if I select general I still get the detailed

My dataset for IPUMS ACS years 2007 and 2011 had extra variables included. I selected only general data, but I still get the detailed variable data with the general variable data.

Can I just delete these variables from my original dataset without any problems (I am using SPSS)? The detailed variables are: Multigend, Related, Raced, Educd, Empstatd.

At this time there is no way to the detailed version of a variable from an extract while retaining the general version. However, you can read your file into SPSS and then drop the detailed variables, providing that the detailed variables are not required for your analysis.
