I keep getting the message to cite the data appropriately. I am a bit confused has to where do I cite the data because whenever I go to create the bibliography and cite the data I am getting an output “no result found”. Please help and guide me in the right direction.

When you use ipumsr to read IPUMS data into R, by default, you will see a display message requesting users to cite IPUMS data appropriately. If you produce a publication or other public-facing document using IPUMS data, you will need to cite IPUMS as the data source. You can read more about citing IPUMS data on this page.

The message is not requesting users to use the IPUMS bibliography while they use the data as a condition of analyzing the data. Unless you have a publication resulting from use of IPUMS data, you do not need to do anything with the IPUMS bibliography at this time. The IPUMS bibliography is a list of peer-reviewed publications, working papers, dissertations, presentations, and other forms of publication (such as books or data dashboards) that reference IPUMS data. This resource allows people to search for publications that use IPUMS data, which can be helpful when conducting their own research.
