I see that your 2010 PUMA shapefile covers all states (https://usa.ipums.org/usa/volii/bound…). Can you confim the source of this file? On the TIGER/Line website, I can only find shapefiles individually by state. Did someone within your organization manually combine these files into one?
Yes, a member of the IPUMS staff downloaded each state PUMA shapefile, merged them together into a nationwide shapefile, and then erased coastal water from the Pacific, Atlantic, and Great Lakes regions of the country. The original state-specific PUMA shapefiles came directly from the US Census Bureau’s TIGER/Line website.
If you download and unzip the shapefile, you will find an XML file that describes the source of our data.
