I have significantly manipulated IPUMS USA extracts into customized national, state, and MSA-level summary data. I’ve made graphs using the summary data, but I was hoping to offer to share the code and the summary data to aid replication. Am I allowed to privately share these summaries with other researchers/academics?
With IPUMS USA the main restriction on data sharing is with the IPUMS USA full count files - which is prohibited. With the sample data files available via IPUMS USA data sharing is permitted as long as you properly cite IPUMS USA in any documentation or write-ups of your work. Also, since it sounds like you are sharing aggregated data and not the individual microdata, this task falls within the guidlines of IPUMS USA data usage.
