I can’t seem to find it on IPUMS (PDF source here: 1960 Census: Population, Vol. I. Characteristics of the Population). Is there a table version of this data available somewhere?
PUMS NHGIS has digitized tables with summary data from the 1960 census on the state and county level as well as for select census tracts; IPUMS USA provides a subsample of the person-level microdata files from which these tables are constructed. Okay - I believe I saw that but it’s just a sample of select census tracts? I was looking for the city and place-level summary data
NHGIS has place-level data mainly only for 1970 and later, and not for 1960. For 1960, NHGIS has state and county data as well as all published data for census tracts (not just select tracts), but the 1960 tract data covered only “select areas” throughout the U.S., mainly major cities and their surrounds.
