ACS 1-Year Supplemental Estimates

Hi,

I have a general question about how to access the ACS 1-year Supplemental Estimates from IPUMS. I have done some research and understand that one way to obtain these data is directly from the Census website by submitting an API request.

Is there a way to download the 1-year Supplemental Estimates through IPUMS? My understanding is that these supplemental estimates are aggregated table-level measures at lower geographic levels (such as counties) but for a single year. Because the 5-year estimates would include pre-policy periods in my analysis window, the 1-year estimates would be preferable for my research.

Hello,

We do not yet disseminate the 1-year Supplemental Estimates. IPUMS NHGIS is the IPUMS product that disseminates aggregate data tables like those in the Supplemental Estimates. Our current funding supports the ingest and dissemination of the Supplemental Estimates, but we don’t have an estimate for when we will get to those products.
