When will be the 1950 Full Count Census available?

The recent release of the 1950 Full Count Census is excellent news. However, when would it be available in IPUMS?

I do not have a definitive timeline for releasing the 1950 full count files. IPUMS will partner with Ancestry to make the 1950 data available for research applications; we will share updates via email and IPUMS USA as we learn more about the data transcription schedule.

HI, Any update on when the 1950 full count will be available through IPUMs? Even if you can’t give a specific date, a range would be helpful. If you don’t have it, is it available through another venue? thank you.

Thanks for checking in. We hope to provide a better estimate on the release date later this summer. The original images of the 1950 forms are available via the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).

We anticipate releasing the 1950 full count data in the first half of 2024.
