Well-being modules

Hi there,

I’m working with R to run some models using the well-being ATUS modules. My outcomes are the six dimensions of affect, and my predictor is a categorical variable of 1=time spent with partner + friend, 2=time spent with friend without partner, 3=time spent with only partner, and 4=other.

When i try to run a multilevel model in R, it says that I should rescale the “abwt” weight. I took the weight and divided it by its mean. Is that an acceptable modification?

Analytical guidance and programming help fall outside the scope of IPUMS User Support. A quick Google search turned up these two articles on rescaling weights for multilevel analysis in R, which you may find answers your question: Rescale design weights for multilevel analysis on easystats.github, and rescale_weights: Rescale design weights for multilevel analysis from rdocumentation.org.
