I recently updated to Windows 11, and now unzipping IPUMS files is not working like it used to. I am using 7Zip, and instead of unzipping one file, it is creating a different empty file for each row that has the contents of the row as a title. (That’s millions of little files.) Is anybody else having this problem?
Nevermind, I figured it out. If you right click ,the extraction options are not 7Zip, and you have to click “Show More Options” to get the old extraction options.
Glad you got it taken care of. Thanks for your message. Something about Windows 11 seems to have caused occasional issues with decompressing .gz files with the built-in decompression tool AND I have also been caught by the change in finding 7zip.
