I apologise if I have asked this question before. Are there swapped quality flags to go with the swap values? Or is there some other way of associating swap values with a quality flag – like if they only s so within quality flag types, so the current flags are still good?
There are no data quality flags available in the swap files on IPUMS CPS. In the swap files available on this page, every non-zero value replaces a topcoded value in income variables available through IPUMS CPS. All values in these files are either a) a valid swap value, b) missing, or c) zero. Missing values indicate that the income variable is not available for that year and the zero values indicate that income was not top-coded.
