I have several different extracts that I’ll be selecting from arbitrarily, and I’m wondering if there’s a master codebook for importing unlabelled data into STATA that includes value and variable labels. Thank in advance for any suggestions.
Because IPUMS allows you to request custom data files that include only your variables of interest and multiple years of data, each codebook is customized. The columns associated with a given variable will depend on the data request you have made. Without knowledge about your specific application and the reason for arbitrary selection amongst your extracts, my best suggestion is to create a single extract request that corresponds to your specific application and using that syntax file and codebook.
