Place of Origin/Birth place of Survey data of India

I am trying to figure out the place of origin at the HH or individual level of each sample from the survey data from IPUMS International, survey data of India.

There is the serial number which is a unique number for each family. Is there a way to find which serial numbers come from the same area/region? i.e., samples from 1000 to 9000 share the same place of origin and etc.

SERIAL uniquely identifies households; it is not intended to be used as a geographic identifier. The lowest geographic level available in the India data via IPUMS International is the district. Harmonized district identifiers are available in the variable GEO2_IN (which uses consistent boundaries over time).
