Hi,
I have recently downloaded the microdata of the Kenyan 1989 Census, which should have a variable of the respondent’s ethnicity (I think it was the last time the Kenyan Gov’t asked so). The problem is I can’t find it.
Is there any particular reason to not including that variable? And how could I find the 1989 Census microdata with the ethnicity variable? (I need to calculate percentage of different ethnic groups in each adminitrative division)
Thank you.
At the request of the then CBS-Kenya, the variable could not be made available for research. When approval is granted we will release the variable. It is possible that the CBS published a table with the information that you need. Or you might try submitting a data request to the KNBS: http://www.knbs.or.ke/index.php?option=com_visforms&view=visforms&id=1&Itemid=1159
Is it possible to see households at the address level in the 1989 Kenya Census. I am curious if names in the household were listed. I’m trying to locate families I grew up with, but don’t know the full names of the children I knew back then. Thank you.
