I requested full/100% data of New Mexico only for the years 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880, 1900, 1910, 1920. All years except 1910 are incomplete- maybe about 600 lines instead of the full data set. I did work by hand and excel counting of Santa Fe in 1850 and the population itself was about 6,000. I know there were about 60,000 in New Mexico territory in 1850. The 1910 census data is complete. 1900 comes back blank. Is there a reason why this is happening? It is for my final project and right now I can’t even start it.
I am looking at your most recent data extracts and it seems like (in most extracts) you are selecting cases based on STATEFIP and GQTYPE. Note that when multiple criteria are included in the select cases tool, only cases that meet both criteria will show up in the data extract. This is almost certainly what is limiting the number of observations in your data extracts. If these challenges persist, please feel free to reach out to IPUMS User Support at ipums@umn.edu.
