I know that the definition of PUMAs has changed in 2010, and 2010-2012 still use the pervious version of PUMA, the 2010 version haven’t been used until 2012.
Now I want to use the data from 2010 to 2019, so I encounter two different version of PUMA. Is there any method to match them?
The variable CPUMA0010 provides a PUMA definition that bridges the 2000 and 2010 PUMA boundaries and allows for analysis of ACS data from 2005-2021. More specifically, CPUMA0010 aggregates one or more 2010 U.S. Census PUMAs into a singular ConsPUMA (consistent PUMA) that aligns (within a 1% population mismatch) with a corresponding set of 2000 PUMAs. The CPUMA0010 Summary provides the mismatch errors for each ConsPUMA. This page also provides a 2000-2010 PUMA crosswalk file that includes the block-based 2000 and 2010 populations for each intersection between PUMAs, as well as interactive maps and a boundary file.
