I want to download the number of hours worked per week but it takes values from 0 to 99 and I don’t have the codes, so I don’t know how to do to get the exactly number of hours worked per week by each individual.
It looks like you are looking at the HRSWORK1 variable in IPUMS USA. The code generally records the number of hours the respondent worked last week. Two exceptions are the “top-code” codes of 98 (for 1940-1950 samples) and 99 (for 1980-1999 samples). These top-codes indicate that the respondent worked more than 98 or 99 hours, respectively.
I hope this helps.
But is it possible that a person worked more than 40 hours per week? I am looking UHRSWORK
Yes, it is possible that a person worked more than 40 hours per week.
