Why is the “VERIFY” variable not available for the 2019 ASEC supplement, while it is for earli3r years?
VERIFY was not included in the 2019 ASEC supplement due to changes made by the Census Bureau in how they process health insurance data. These changes are noted in the 2019 ASEC Updates Documentation and this blog post, which include the addition of new health insurance variables as well as removal of several variables.
Thanks very much. BTW, are the health insurance variables processed in the same way for the 2020 ASEC which is coming out soon as they were for the 2019?
I am not aware of any plans to drop the editing procedures adopted for the 2019 ASEC; these should remain in place going forward and will be applied to the 2020 ASEC.
