Do the USA full count census data sets for 1910, 1920, and 1930 include the Hawaii population?

Do the USA full count census data sets for 1910, 1920, and 1930 include the Hawaii population?

The 1910 full count file includes 604 observations from Hawaii, but the 1920 and 1930 full count files don’t include any observations from Hawaii. This seems to be a characteristic of the IPUMS USA full count files as each of the sample data sets from 1910-1930 include observations from Hawaii. These details can be clearly seen by selecting the 1910-1930 samples (and full count files) and selecting “case-count view” radio button on the STATEFIP variable.

I want to ensure I understand…although Hawaii and Alaska were not yet states they are included in the 1910, 1920, and 1930 Censuses but not in the 1940 or 1950?

Alaska and Hawaii were enumerated in the 1940 and 1950 Censuses. The current availability of these states through IPUMS USA is due to the particulars of data entry and harmonization for each sample. For 1910, Hawaii and Alaska are included in all available samples, including the full count file. For 1920 and 1930, only the 1% and 5% samples, but not the full count files, include data from Hawaii and Alaska. In 1940 and 1950, none of the samples include Alaska or Hawaii, because a separate territorial census form was used which has made harmonization of the territories in these years more difficult than other years. The IPUMS USA team plans to include Alaska and Hawaii data for 1940-1950 in a future data release.

You can read more about what is included in each sample on the IPUMS USA sample descriptions page.
