When will the December 2025 microdata for the CPS basic monthly be available? I am trying to gauge if I can include them in a January report. Thank you!
Since the U.S. federal government has reopened, we anticipate that the December 2025 CPS will be collected and the data will be released as usual. IPUMS works to release the new sample data quickly. Basic Monthly CPS data are typically published by the Census Bureau on the Wednesday following the monthly Employment Situation Report (see schedule here). Following this schedule, the December 2025 microdata are expected to be released by the Census Bureau on January 7th, 2026. We are often able to release new BMS data via IPUMS CPS within one week.
