Hi, I was just wondering when I could expect the data from Indonesia’s intercensus population survey 2015 (SUPAS 2015), and the data from Indonesia’s population survey in 2020. Of course I am happy to wait if you are currently processing the data or are planning to do so. I just wanted to inquire if the reason for the data not yet being available is some kind of issue with the data and/or data sharing by Indonesia’s statistical agency (BPS). Thanks a lot, I look forward to your answer!
Currently, IPUMS International provides Indonesian census and intercensus survey data from 1971 to 2010. We have been working on acquiring data from the 2020 census, but do not yet have access. I have passed your interest in the data along to my colleagues who work closely with the IPUMS International data.
You may consider reaching out directly to Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) to ask about accessing the data yourself. We are always grateful when users who have, or who establish, connections with national statistical offices put us into contact with them; this contributes greatly to our efforts to facilitate use of a country’s census data by incorporating them into IPUMS International.
Dear Ivan, thanks a lot for your reply! In the meanwhile, I found a website that reports the data I was looking for, and cites BPS as source: Indonesia: Administrative Division (Provinces, Regencies and Cities) - Population Statistics, Charts and Map
I have written an email to the people who run this website, asking about their precise source in BPS. I’ll write another reply if/once I hear from them.
