Last time I asked, a year or two ago, you were planning on releasing a version of the CPS data with the linkages between records in adjacent years needed to do work using the (short) panel characteristics of those records, as they are in, e.g., the NBER version of the CPS files. I was wondering if you now have any idea of the schedule for that release?
Unfortunately, we still don’t have a firm estimate for the release of these identifiers. It is a high priority for us, and we hope to have a better idea of when these will be available around the beginning of September.

There is still no specific estimated release date for the linking keys used to create the short panels you are talking about. However, IPUMS-CPS is fairly confident that the variables will be available by the end of 2014, if not sooner. There has been a great amount of progress made on the project and it remains a top priority. I am sorry I can not give you a more precise date.
