1950 population for towns?

Is there something that will give me total population figures for various cities and towns in 1950? If I understand, the various tables I’m seeing only show population for entire counties and urban tracts.

I’m working in the Midwest, so I don’t have to worry too much about CDPs. Incorporated municipalities would be fine.

Neither IPUMS USA nor IPUMS NHGIS has more detailed geography than counties and some tracts (note that not all areas were tracted in 1950). I am sure this is not the response you were hoping to receive.
