I was hoping to do a quick analysis related to union membership on the online data analysis system, but when I try to add the UNION variable the system gives a “Cannot find specified variable” error. This is happening both in the ASEC and BMS datasets. Any tips?
Data for UNION can be downloaded in a customized microdata extract for both ASEC (1990 - present) and BMS (May 1983 - present) samples. However, it is only available for the BMS samples in the online analysis system. The fact that the system gives a “cannot find specified variable” error for the ASEC analysis is expected, but it should not give you this error for BMS samples.
I was able to successfully tabulate UNION for BMS samples online (see screenshot below) without this error. Let me know if you are still getting an error with UNION in the BMS samples and if you’re adding any additional parameters and I’ll be happy to help troubleshoot the issue.
