What happens when the mortality sample does not have a weight variable? How can I apply the weight variable? (example: Senegal 2002)

If there is no sampling weight variable specifically for the mortality sample units listed under IPUMS International mortality samples, then the mortality data are not weighted. Individual and household level analysis, of course, should use the person-level and household-level weight variable respectively. To use the household and person level weights, you can link the mortality data to the data from the IPUMS extract system. For example, with the Senegal 2002 sample, you can merge the data using the variables SAMPLE + SERIAL as linking keys.
