Can I use ATUS-X to obtain multi-year files?
I’m not entirely sure what you mean when you say “multi-year files.” Although there are no ready-made multi-year files available in IPUMS Time Use, you can pool together multiple samples/years to create a data extract that contains more than one sample/year. Do note that if you do pool together multiple samples/years, and you intend to calculate representative statistics with the provided sampling weights, you will need to adjust the values of the weights to account for the fact that multiple samples/years are pooled together. In general, a quick approximation for this adjustment is to divide the value of the sampling weight by the number of samples/years you are pooling together.
