Methodology details for new RACHSING variable

Greetings,

I am interested in using the new bridged primary race variables produced for the 2000 and 2010 census and ACS (RACHSING and the related variables PREDAI, PREDAPI, PREDBLK, PREDWHT, and PREDHISP)). The documentation for RACHSING indicates that these variables were derived using a similar approach to the race bridging algorithm originally implemented for the 2000 census, as described in Ingram, et al. (2003). Does more detailed documentation of the new model exist anywhere, including, e.g., model coefficients?

Thank you in advance for any help.

There is a webinar coming up that will cover this variable in more detail, during which you can ask any questions you have. You can find out more about this event and register here. If you aren’t able to attend, there will be a recording available afterward at the IPUMS tutorials page. If you still have specific questions that aren’t answered there, you can follow up by email with the User Support team at ipums@umn.edu.

Thank you, I will definitely attend the webinar and follow up with any additional questions afterward. I appreciate your response.
