Measuring employment changes on the individual level

Hello,

I would like to measure employment changes per occupation (OCC1990) on the individual level. I was wondering whether the selection of survey participants is that randomely that I can measure occupational employment changes on the individual level without aggregating them per occupation.

Many thanks in advance!

Employment changes at the individual level can be tracked over an 16 month period by utilizing the longitudinal aspect of the CPS. This video tutorial explains the CPS panel rotation pattern and the CPS Rotation Pattern Exploration Station can be used to identify what samples have linkable records. For more information, see this documentation on Linking the CPS as well as presentations and lab exercises from the 2018 IPUMS CPS Linking Workshop.
