Getting results by state from the ASEC person file

Hi, I’m new to CPS data. I downloaded the 2019 CPS ASEC person file (n=180,101), and I’m trying to get weighted results by state.

Can anyone tell me how to identify the state of residence for observations in the person file?

I’m sorry for posting my question. I subsequently figured out why I was having problems: I downloaded my files from Census, and didn’t combine the person file with the household file. This afternoon I created an extract on the IPUMS CPS website, with harmonized variables, and it solved my problem. I didn’t realize the value of this website for generating data extracts. This is very helpful!
