I have a follow up on variable MARBASECIDH and MARBASCIDP. I can’t get unique identification using these variables as the documentation says. I am merging using year MARBASCIDP but it’s not giving unique identifiers. I am not sure if I need another identifier.
There are a few details to keep in mind. First, you’ll only be able to match the December Food Security Supplement with the ASEC sample of the same year. So, for example, you can merge the 2014 December Food Security Supplement with the 2014 ASEC, but won’t be able to merge the 2013 December Food Security Supplement with the 2014 ASEC. Second, I’d recommend performing this merge one sample year at a time, rather than for your entire 10-year time period at once. Finally, this working paper (pp. 14-16) uses linking of the Food Security Supplement with the ASEC as an example, so you can follow along and double-check your merges.
