CPS-TUS

Hi,

I tabulate on STATA the variables tsmker and age when tsmker is out of the universe

tab tsmker age if tsmker==9

This gives me a high number of people out of the universe for each age. However, I do not understand as all individual more then 15 or 18 years old, depending in the years of the TUS, are in the universe. Why are there that many people not in the Universe at all these ages?

Could you please help me to understand this issue?

Thank you,

Best wishes,

Camille

I had forgotten to add that I am using the CPS-TUS in 1999-2000, 2002-2003 and 2010-2011 with the months that are part of the longitudinal design.

In addition to the restriction on AGE, the TSMKER variable (in May 2011) is limited to only those with MISH==5 or 8. However, this does not fully explain your observation. The rest of these cases can be explained due to supplement non-responses. If you look at the TUS weight (TBSUPPWT), each of these NIU cases have a weight of 0. This indicates that these individuals are not to be included in weighted calculations using TUS data.
