I am running crosstabs of the medicaid status of youth ages 18 to 24 who are not employed and not in school. When I do this I am able to get the national numbers but data are not available for my metro area (which has about 1 million people - Columbus, Ohio). Is there any way that I can get files to create these data myself if they are not readily available? Thank you.
It sounds like you might be using IPUMS USA, let me know if this assumption is incorrect. Although Columbus, OH is not identifiable in the CITY variable it is identifiable in the METAREA and MET2013 variables for recent sample years. The difference between a city and a metropolitan area is important, but if your analysis is not dependent on the explicit boundaries of the city, perhaps the metropolitan area would be sufficient.
