How should I interpret PERWT for a given individual when examining STATEICP, IND1950 and OCC1950 codes? Can I assume that the PERWT indicates how many individuals in a given state have that particular IND1950 and OCC1950 category?

PERWT indicates how many persons in the population are represented by each sample case. IPUMS-USA data is representative at the state level; therefore, within a margin of error, PERWT indicates how many individuals within a state have a particular value of IND1950 and OCC1950.
