Is the EDUC variable referring to individuals who received their education specifically in the US or just the individual’s overall educational attainment?
This question does not differentiate between education received inside and outside the United States. You can see on the universe page for EDUC that the criterion for asking this question is based solely on age and does not differentiate based on nativity. Moreover, in the CPS Interviewing Manual, page C3-19, interviewers are instructed to “Obtain the equivalent school year in the regular American school system for persons who obtained a formal education through foreign schools.”
