You wrote to me that the health insurance coverage survey questions for the CPS were redesigned in 2014. Is this true of the ACS as well? I noted a distinct increase in the coverage in NYC for the construction industry when I ran hcovany x year. Is this the result of a change in the questions so that this upward shift is not meaningful?

The questions identifying health insurance coverage are distinctly different between the ACS and CPS. As the [comparability section of the HCOVANY variable](https://usa.ipums.org/usa-action/variables/HCOVANY#comparability_section)indicates, this variable should be comparable across the years 2008 - onward.
