# Names for GB samples

Hi there,

I’m hoping to link individuals across various years for the newly released 1851-1911 censuses of Great Britain. The data are for a project looking at the long-run consequences of emigration during Irish Famine.

I was wondering, are NAMEFRST and NAMELAST available upon request or application, as in the case of the US censuses? If so, where may I apply for access?

The [NAMEFRST](https://www.nappdata.org/napp-action/variables/NAMEFRST#codes_section) and [NAMELAST](https://www.nappdata.org/napp-action/variables/NAMELAST#codes_section) variables are only available in Great Britain samples in 1851. The availability of these variables is largely determined by our agreements with data providers. So, unfortunately there isn’t a way to gain access to names for other Great Britain samples.
