I am working with data from India for the years of 1993, 1999, and 2004, I was tasked with comparing income for different poulation groups across the three years using the variable INCWAGE. However, I am not sure how the variable is measured, so my questions are: Is INCWAGE for India measure weekly, monthly, or annually? and Is the currency used for this variable Indian Rupee?

INCWAGE, which is available for India for the 1983, 1987, 1993, 1999 and 2004 samples is a harmonized variable that relies on several source variables. From the questionnaire text of each of these source variables, it looks like, for India, INCWAGE is reporting the person’s total earnings in the reference week in Rupees.
