I am working on a research paper and I want to use social network analysis. SNA can be used in STATA. I wanted to know if CPS variables can be downloaded into STATA and then declared as network variables for social network analysis.
Yes, you can download IPUMS CPS data and load it into Stata. Please see the tutorials available at this page, in particular this video.
The CPS does not contain any variables specific for social network analysis, at least in the standard sense of including information on social ties between individuals. The only social relationships captured are within households. If you have an idea for using SNA in a different way with CPS, though, then you should be able to perform the analysis using the data from IPUMS in Stata.
