# Descriptive stats for ALT supplement 2012?

Hello,

I am looking for age, gender, race, ethnicity data for the ALT (alternative medicine) supplement from 2012 containing 34525 respondents.

[IPUMS NHIS](https://nhis.ipums.org/nhis/) includes data for the 2012 Complementary and Alternative Medicine supplement to the NHIS as well as demographic characteristics from the survey. I am including a [brief tutorial](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-4N7gXcdgs) on using the IPUMS NHIS data extract system for reference. I recommend first selecting the 2012 sample, then navigating through the topical drop-down menus to find variables of interest; you should find most variables from this supplement under the Person \> Alternative Health drop down menu.
