Hello,

I was wondering why the CSDAYS variable is not available for 2023 in IPUMS when it seems to have been released with the 2023 CPS-Child Support Supplement data. CSDAYS is available till 2020, and the other CSS variables are available in 2023 but CSDAYS is not. How do I get this variable for the 2023 data?

IPUMS CPS did not update CSDAYS with the rest of the 2023 Child Support Supplement because of a change in the composition of the underlying variable. Prior to 2023, this is a continuous variable reporting the number of days the biological parent living outside the household spent with his/her child(ren), ranging from 0 and 365 days. Beginning in 2023, PES605 was replaced by a categorical variable. I have made a note that we should prioritize in a future CPS release. In the meantime, you can merge observations from the original CPS data file with your IPUMS CPS extract using the linking keys [HRHHID](https://cps.ipums.org/cps-action/variables/HRHHID), [HRHHID2](https://cps.ipums.org/cps-action/variables/HRHHID2), and [LINENO](https://cps.ipums.org/cps-action/variables/LINENO#description_section) (referred to as PULINENO in the CB data).
