# Can you please make the home ownership variable available from the 2001-2013 CPS December supplement?

I am attempting to replicate the analysis from Map the Meal Gap ([http://www.feedingamerica.org/hunger-…](http://www.feedingamerica.org/hunger-in-america/our-research/map-the-meal-gap/how-we-got-the-map-data.html)) which uses publicly available 2001-2013 CPS December Supplement varibles.

I find all necessary variables through IPUMS-CPS except for the Home Ownership (Dwelling Ownership) variable. Why is this publicly avaialble variale not included in IPUMS-CPS from the December Supplement 2001-2013?

The HETENURE variable is part of the CPS basic monthly survey. IPUMS has not yet harmonized this variable; however, we continue to add more basic monthly variables. The greater the perceived demand by IPUMS users, the sooner a variable is likely to be released.

In the meantime, it is possible to link IPUMS-CPS data to the [source data files](http://www.nber.org/data/current-population-survey-data.html) available through NBER. The IPUMS household linking variables can be found [here](https://cps.ipums.org/cps-action/variables/group?id=h-linking). To link person records, you will also need to use [LINENO](https://cps.ipums.org/cps-action/variables/LINENO#description_section), [AGE](https://cps.ipums.org/cps-action/variables/AGE#description_section), and [SEX](https://cps.ipums.org/cps-action/variables/SEX#description_section). The corresponding NBER variables are identified in [this documentation](https://www.census.gov/cps/files/How%20To%20Link%20CPS%20Public%20Use%20Files.pdf).
