# Can I map IPUMS-International data using GIS?

Can I map IPUMS-International data using GIS?

Users can create maps with IPUMS-International data using a statistical software program and ArcMap (a GIS mapping application). A world boundary file and select country-level boundary files are available in shapefile format to facilitate national- and international-level mapping. The boundary files are downloadable zipped shapefiles.

Resulting maps are intended to facilitate visual illustrations of IPUMS-International data rather than precise geographical calculation.
