# Can I get the original IHIS data?

As noted, the raw material for the IHIS database comes from the NHIS public use files provided by the National Center for Health Statistics. These original data are available on the [NHIS data and documentation page](http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nhis/nhis_questionnaires.htm). The National Center for Health Statistics’ NHIS public use files also include variables and supplements not yet covered by IHIS.
